Of Times Past

I don't usually do much in the way of poetry,  but this week I was struck by inspiration, so I wrote, and this was the result:

Once upon a time,
In days of yore,
It all began
As it begins once more.

One nation did fall,
Another did rise,
A hero was born,
A villain did die.


Gods waged war
Up in the sky,
The dead returned,
By wayward cry.

Magic flourished,
Dragons flew,
Monsters roamed,
And giants grew.


The magic fell,
The heroes died,
The gods were lost,
The creatures hide.

That time is past,
Those days gone by,
But what has passed,
May pass again.
